Model Call!!!

Beloved lads and ladies, want a free cut and color service? A deep cleansing shampoo and conditioning treatment? Be my model! I'm looking for a model who's open to an all over color and cut service this upcoming Saturday, October 27, 2012. This will be my final practical ever! After this service has been successfully completed, I will move into the last Phase of my career at Pivot Point. Write me back and let my hands do the rest of the talking ;)

Uneven Number

This Tuesday, my friend, Jen, came out to Pivot for an asymmetrical haircut. I always get super energized when I see a familiar face waiting for me in the client lobby. Jen has extremely thick hair (her red is all natural by the way) and wanted some of the weight removed. She was also feeling a bit adventurous and wanted to experiment with the beauty that is asymmetry. After consulting with my educator, Mr. Bearj, we all agreed that I would be able to free form the sculpture and then come through with my thinning shears to remove the bulk. Well, it just so happens that this was my first full, free form cut and I am so happy that it turned out great. Jen thought so too! Beach House concert, here she comes ;)

Make Her Over

*Presented to you from "After" to "Before." Sometimes it's more fun to start with the cherry on top.

Thanksies to mi amiga, Lauren,
for helping me with the 5 min. photo shoot at work

Ta-da! Spiral curls with a pretty hair bow.

Love it.

Let's add some color and highlights.

After sculpture. Soft layers.

Before. Long and dull.

Japanese Straightening

Before. She's mighty poodle-y.

After thioglycolate was applied, combed smooth
and rinsed, blow-dried, and flat ironed.

During neutralizer.

Post rinse,
blow-dried again and flat ironed.

This service can cost up to $900! It's the most time consuming service I've learned as of yet. It took me two and a half hours just to complete this section of hair. The results? Bone straight hair that lasts up to 8 months!

Meet My Little Luchador

By far, the greatest person I've come to know in my life, my son, Anatoly. He's shown me more beauty than any other living or non living creature this Universe holds.

For The Lucky Bride...Or Her Maids.

Mr. Kabir (Our Phase 3 educator. Yes! I'm in week 3 of Phase 3! Wowza!) taught us how to master le fancy chignon (bun). He did a demonstration and made it look easy as pie, which in practice, IS! Two main design components used in the above include heavy back brushing and smoothening. The on-the-scalp braid is part of my "design decision". Creating the filler (which is the cushion for the bun) was my favorite part of this design. You're essentially creating this giant cloud of cotton candy hair and giving it a form, a sense of sweet structure.
